Portfolio > Varieties of Police Behavior

Varieties of Police Behavior is a series that emerged from my Visual Literacy work. For this project I converted the book Varieties of Police Behavior into a pinhole camera and I use it to document locations in Oakland where unarmed citizens have been killed by police. The book, written by James Q. Wilson, was published in 1968. Throughout the text he investigates eight different cities, including Oakland, and how the police operate and "interact" within the varying communities.
